Exclamation Key Fob only works when Truck is running

Hey guys, I am new to this group - and as most of the times - I joined because I have an issue and could not find a solution by searching this and other forums in the internet.

Case: I have an 2005 - RAM 1500 SLT - recently the battery of my Key Fob died. First it was replaced with a wrong one (Not by my - but by my buddy who was using my truck for some time).
I changed the batteries to the correct type but now I have the issue that the fob is not unlocking the door anymore.
Confusing is, when the engine is running it is working fine... locking... unlocking... no issue.
(While I write this here... no I do not know if it works with just the ignition on... but I will try this tonight when I am home. )
Any idea what could cause this issue? Any ideas are much appreciated.

Thanks

Do you have any other key fobs to test other than the one that you're talking about?

Reset the computer and see if that does anything. Pull the neg battery cable and turn the key to crank position so it dissipates any capacitance. Reconnect and try the fob.
