Default '05, 5.9 auto. Fuel pump injector problem.

I have metal bits in the fuel filter. As I replace the injectors and lift pump, should I replace the pressure pump or can the metal come from the lift? If it's from the pressure pump, can metal end up in the cylinders?
TIA.

I am thinking that the injectors are likely going to have, at very least, a 'pre' screen filter and after that, I doubt anything that makes it past the injector is not going to be of consequence in the combustion chamber unless it has been happening for tens of thousands of miles.

Myself, I would consider inspecting/cleaning the injectors before I go to replace, but if you are pressed to put her back into service and the cost is not important, replace is great.

Please return and let us know what you find and how much it costs to get her back running strong in August 2023 dollars. Most everybody loves to hear the ending of a story.
Cheers!

We love pictures! too...
