Truck is going to sit for a while; change oil now or later?
6 years on the submarie, USS San Juan SSN751. I would not pull the battery if you do not have a place to keep it. I would open the fuse box, and pull the fuse out with the black fuse holder that is labeled IOD. This is your battery feed to everything that draws from the battery when the ignition if off. After you pull the IOD, you should have no drain on the battery. The vehicle will still run if your wife needs to move it, but the radio will not function, nor will your keyless entry, power door locks, and power seats.
I've got a solar panel thing that came with my Jeta. I kept it when I traded in my VW. Last time I was gone, I plugged it into the 12v, stuck it in the window, and all was well when I got back. I plan on doing the same thing for the truck.
If the wife's gonna drive it, just have her wash for you every now and then. As for the oil, go ahead and change it.
Thanks for your service; if you see my cousin, tell him I said Hi.
Good Luck and God Bless
