Default Loss of power in hills

I've got an 02 dodge ram 1500 4.7 4x4 SLT. I did a number of minor repairs, new spark plugs, map sensor, new cat and exhaust, new O2 sensors, and the truck runs great. The only issue I've noticed is that it struggles in hills. When I hit the slightest incline, it has to downshift and pull the hill at 3000+ rpms. I had the transmission checked, and it checks out good. Any suggestions?

it did have a clogged cat when I bought it, but I recently replaced the entire exhaust system, cat included, with a Flowmaster setup. I've noticed the loss of power in hills empty. I haven't really towed much with it yet.

The 4.7 makes peak torque somewhere around 4000 rpm. 3000 rpm is totally fine on a hill. It's still a heavy truck.

The terrible gear spread on your 45RFE doesn't help. Look into upgrading the TCM to a 2003 and unlocking 5th gear.

I'll definitely look into that! You wouldn't happen to have a part number or anything I could research, would you?

56041905AD should be the one

It's plug and play, turns your 45RFE into a 545RFE
