Trailer brake/towing ?
2004 Dodge Ram 1500 QC 4.7 4x4. On my build sheet it says "Trailer Tow W/ 4-pin connector wiring". I have looked under my dash and there is no blue plug for a trailer brake controller. So I am assuming that it did not come with the Towing Package from the factory. I've done quite a bit of reading on here and everything says you would have the blue plug under the dash if it did come with the Towing Package. Does that sound right or should the truck have that based on what the build sheet says? I've not owned this truck long. Still learning about them. Thanks.
You going to bumper pull a trailer that has electric brakes? I don't know what the bumper is rated for, but I would want to pull a heavy trailer with a frame mounted trailer hitch. Shouldn't be too hard to find a factory one in the jyard, or just buy a new one from Curt or equivalent.
The blue connector is stuffed up under there pretty good, at least on the ones I have had. But I haven't bought any that didn't have a factory hitch on them, so there is that. I'd expect that connector would be on all of them, take another really good look before you give up and cut/splce your harness.
