I definitely don’t! $3300 is way too much to drop! I plan on bolting a chain to he front of the engine and maybe in two spots in the valley under the intake.

You can do it that way. I like the high ceiling connection because I can get the combo as high as I need it. The cherry picker can be limited on lifting height. I'd still roll the truck away from the picker, rather than try to push the picker at its highest lift while fully loaded...

I’ll definitely roll the truck away instead of pushing the picker. I’m thinking I’ll attach my chains on the front and back or on the front and in the valley, does that sound good or would you attach differently? I’ve never lifted any dodge motor and I’ve heard they tricky.

The last one I pulled was a 5.9 gas, and it had a throttle body that I could remove and bolt on a lift plate - pretty standard. I had to have my hands on it and push it in various directions to get that out of the truck. Usually I use one bolt up front on the side, and another in the back on the other side. I usually have to find longer bolts in my bolts bin, because I use the link from the chain. You could get tabs and use the factory bolts since the tabs aren't very thick. I also have one of those engine tilt gizmos, good for when the weight isn't very evenly distributed.

I don't have this one (mine is 25 years old), but as an example.

Absurdity....no the trans doesn't have to come with it, in fact that would make it harder unless you were dropping it out the bottom. Literally unhook and unbolt everything and lift it out. Just be careful with how you lift the engine.

Yeah its not necessary that you pull the trans with the engine. I just prefer to get it all back together out of the truck and pop it back in as a unit. If I had a 2post lift, might not do it that way...
