Default Security system

A couple of days ago, suddenly, my key fob won't unlock the doors, or do anything else. It has a new battery. I used the key to unlock the door manually, which I've had to do before, but normally, when I start the truck the horn stops going off and it cranks normally. This time, the horn wouldn't stop blaring, and the engine shut off after about 3 seconds, like the alarm is still active. After multiple attempts, if finally cranked and ran fine. I had no other problems until I shut it off again. This time, I had not locked the doors, so the horn didn't go off, but it would still start, then shut down after a few seconds. After locking and unlocking the doors with the arm rest button a few times, it finally cranked and ran normally. Now, just about every time I try to start it, I have to go through the same thing. It has taken anywhere between, 4 o5 5 attempts, to 20 or 25 attempts, but it eventually starts. Once it's running, it runs and drives fine and everything is good until I shut it off again. I suspect an issue with the alarm system, just wanted to get another opinion or two before taking it for repairs. I've seen other posts with the engine shutting off, or with a key fob problem, but none that would eventually let it start normally until something was repaired or replaced.

Sounds like an issue with the receiver in the column?!
