On Sat. a little light on my dash came on that read "Lamp Out". A couple of dings followed and the light flashed off and then back on a few times. Sunday it did not happen but then it started back up this morning. The light comes on and off and it dings in no certain sequence. I check all of my exterior lights (parking, tail, brake etc) and everthing looks fine.

What the heck is going on?

I have had this happen a few times before, both times it has done this it was my drivers side brake light. What happens is when the bulb blows the little wires inside the bulb move around and touch causing the lamp out light to go out again.

 

I had this happen, and while it was the taillight, it wasn't because the bulb had blown. In my case the terminals from the bulb were sort of deformed and the plastic had melted, thus I was not getting good contact. I had to replace the bulb to make the "bulb out" lamp stay off.
