Default '03 to '06 5.7 swap

I have an '03 1500 4x4 with a fried 5.7 hemi in it. I have a different 5.7 from an '06. Will the '06 swap in? I know it mad MDS, but my understanding is that the MDS default is off, so I should be fine as far as MDS goes. Will the rest just drop in and plug and play? What hurdles am I looking at?
Any help would be appreciated.

The 03 doesn't use EGR, which the 06 engine is set up for. You'll have to cap the head port and either swap manifolds or plug the hole in the later manifold. Default mechanical position for MDS is off so it will run just fine.

Default Plug and play?

Will most, if not all, of the wiring and hoses swap or will i need to swap many components? As for the EGR, i plan on using the '03 manifolds. Thank you for the tip on the EGR and MDS. Now i just have to vet busy on getting it all in the truck.

You may need to change some sensors due to harness differences, but otherwise everything will hook right up.

Thank you for the insight Magnoom. I think this should go fairly smooth. "Should" being the operative word. I may be back for more insight from you.
