Unhappy 05 RAM 1500 Brake Light Switch Issue

I have a 2005 RAM 1500. Recently the dash warning of a non-working light came on. When I turned on lights, all functioned. But then I found there was a brake light out. One day later both were out. Since the running lights worked, I assumed it was a fuse. But all were fine. So, I went on to the brake switch. Got a new one. Installed it. Still no brake lights AND I could not shift out of park. I put old switch back in and had no problem shifting. At this point I installed all new fuses associated with brake lights and installed new bulbs. Still no brake lights. So, I thought maybe the new switch could have been bad, so I tried another new switch and was not able to get it out of park again. Re-installed old one. I'm trying to fix this myself, so I don't have to spend $$$ to find out it is something simple that I am missing. I am not a mechanic. Thanks in advance for any help.

If you have trailer harness I would look at that wiring. Also voltmeter to the brake light socket. See if you have 12v going back. What brand switch did you get? What bulb number did you put in?

I didn't notice any branding on the switches. I went to Advance Auto and O'reilly's for each. Sylvania bulbs 3057.
Will check voltage as soon as I can.
Thank you.
