Default 4x4 Problems

Good day - I have a 2007 2500 4 x4 Quad with 6.7 Cummins. It has started acting schizophrenic of late with the 4x4 system. It started weirdly actuating the solenoid on the front end trying to put it in 4wd when I simply open the front passenger door. It then started doing it when I unlock it with the key fob. The yellow Svc4wd light comes on intermittingly as well and it will actually engage in 4x4 while I am driving even though the selector switch is in 2wd. I can tell it is in 4wd because it is hard to corner around the box store parking lot. When I am driving, the 4wd low light will flash on and off once in a while until I stop the truck, turn it off, and restart it again. One time, it actually got stuck in 4wd low and I had to limp home very slowly. Finally, of late, the truck will start flashing the "check gages" light, beep three times, and then go off 30 seconds later. All the gauges are fine when this happens. If I leave it sit over night, it will act fine for about 20 minutes and then all the above will start happening again. I have looked around underneath and can't see and loose wiring or other wring issues. I have also disconnected the batteries over a weekend to no avail. It seems like a computer or electronic issue so would like to see if anyone has experienced this as well and can point me in the right direction to start finding a solution. Thanks a bunch!

There is no solenoid on the front end only a shift motor on the transfer case. Sounds like it may be going bad.
