Possible Engine Issue with my brand new Ram
Hey guys. I just got my Daytona ram about 3.5 weeks ago. Anyway, I played it easy for around 500 miles, then after reading the manual, decided that going WOT occasionally isnt going to hurt anything. Man what a blast. Everything seems fine, the engine is a screamer when you push it. However, I noticed that from highway speeds, 70mph, if i nail it, it goes to around 5000rpm or so (same as it does when nailed on the street). However, i get this wierd howl, almost like a banshee. It doesn't sound right, and it doesnt do it from street speeds. Almost sounds like a belt, but i dunno. Has anyone experienced this?
edit: I realize that I'm new here, and do appreciate any help. It was just a wierd noise, didnt sound right.

I believe you are right in thinking there is a problem. I've stomped on the accelerator at 70 and reached 90 in a few seconds without that "banshee" sound. Unfortunately, I'm not much of an engine mechanic and wouldn't be able to give an honest answer to what I think it is. If you just got it, you might be able to go back to the dealership and talk with them. However; a majority of dealerships load you with bulls**t and tell you it's fine. Once you do find out, please update us and good luck.[sm=welcomesign.gif]
i have 2005 qc thunderroad with 4.7 and have the same sound at WOT. I thought it was normal that it did this, but then again this is the first n\a powered vehicle ive owned and also first truck.
