Fixed my 4.7L misfire/code: Check your spark plug wells after coolant spills!
Just wanted to share a fix for a persistent misfire code on my 2003 Ram 4.7L.
I recently did a radiator R&R and in the process spilled some coolant on the engine. Didn't think much of it, thought it would just evaporate. It actually leaked down into the #1 spark plug well. It was causing a short and a consistent misfire code.
I cleaned out the cavity with paper towels, used electrical contact cleaner in the spark plug chamber, dried it out, and the code cleared immediately.
If you have a misfire after any cooling system work, pull your coils and check the wells for fluid before replacing parts!
