Mopar Billet Grill Inserts
I just purchased the Mopar billet grill inserts for my Dodge Ram tonight but the instructions are not too clear. Has anyone installed these before that can give some advice and or clearer instructions? They don't look that hard to install but I dont want to mess up the grill. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
I think you use a punch to knock out the center of the old plastic rivet type things. Don't hold me to that, but I think this is what another member did a while back when he got his billet grill.
ya you can use a punch or a nail, all you have to do is knock out the the center stud on the plastic rivets and then after you get all 22 the old grill should just pull out. i changed my grill last week and what a difference it makes. it looks so much nicer. but i hope you make or made out ok.
All done! I think I like it! A center punch worked perfect for the centers of the rivets.
Some notes on the Mopar instructions:
-Use a 8mm socket insted of a 10mm socket that the instructions call for
-Remove 12 bolts holding the grill to frame and hood. Not 13 like the instructions call for
Other than that, it went pretty smooth....

Looks great!! I've been thinking about doing this for some time now, but was worried it would be too much crome on the front, but it looks great! Thanks for posting the before and after pics.
I installed my grill last weekend and yeah it makes a big difference in appearance. And yes the instructions were a little off on the socket size and the number of bolts. It took me about 15 minutes to change mine out and I am impressed with the look
Are the replacements plastic or some type of metal? I ask because I had a bird fly into mine and cracked it, not bad just enough to p*#@ me off! I noticed the OEM seem to be plastic.

The inserts are just chromed plastic like the grill shell. But I favored the price of these compared to the metal inserts. I think they look just as good IMO and dont add any more weight to the truck.
