Default Radio Bezel and Head Unit question...

Hello all,

My 03 1500 is equipped with a dated Kenwood head unit. I'd like to replace the radio bezel and install a new head unit with Android Auto. Also as you can see, my climate controls module has recently detached itself from the radio bezel, I believe the bezel is what let go of the unit, and the climate control module does not need to be replaced? I searched online, and looked through the forums, but couldn't find out if you can replace JUST the silver bezel part and not the whole surrounding dash trim. And of the sea of options for head units, which ones did y'all prefer to go with? Appreciate the suggestions and information.

Yes you can replace just the silver piece. It is held by snapin clips. The modules of the radio, climate control, etc are not attached to the bezel. Those are screwed into bosses in the dash structure behind it. You have a few screws loose back there, 😉

i really like my Sony AX5600 head unit bought from Crutchfield. It is a no nonsense unit that has carplay and android auto compatible. Under the seat is an Infinity Amp, Infinity 6x9 in the front doors and Infinity 6 1/4 in rear doors. great all round refresh of the old Ram sound system.

I also put a Boss Audio unit in my other truck. Hate the Boss unit.

I prefer Sony and Kenwood systems. Well designed long lasting. Everything needed is in them, no nonsense units. Everything that is fluff and flash is left out. No bugs, no constant software updates. They just work out of the box and keepe rocking on a decade later.

hope that helps.
