Hey guys, as you can see I've been looking into this for a long while. I also havea Power Wagon but mine is an '05, so it's a pci bus. I think that it's a little more complex to do the install but I did try to call Ted. Spoke with someone else who said that they are trying to make a mirror harness that would work with all the Rams. I bought the LX harness and was told that with some modification it could work just not that confident about doing any more mods on truck thats why I can't wait to get this new harness.

Ryan,

Boy, you're going a step ahead with the wiring, especially mating your factory clearance light harness. That's alot of work, I must say, but more power to you if you know what you're doing. I;m not that far into taking it apart, or that I know how everything comes apart or not. I had the dealer put in my telematic and harness. I used to work on cars in my teens and early twenties, but as I got older (late 40's now), I found it easier to buy new and get a warranty, and just pay someone to do the brakes, etc, and keep working so I don't lose any money or time. I used to dig into the factory parts department, etc, when I was young. I had a Ford 70 Torino wiht a 429 CJ. I used to research accessories for it from Ford. They didn't have much for it, but it was fun looking up what I can or can't do.

As for anyparts and parts departments, what I've found, whenever dealing with a dealer parts department, the level of help you get depends on the person you talk to. I was lucky at David Dodge in Chadds Ford, PA, where I bought my PW, to havemet the parts manager, Karen. She's helped me and persevered to get thru alot of the UConnect lookups, heated seats research, more UConnect components research, etc, before I heard of Ted. She's dug into my VIN and other VINs that have different options to look at the harnesses and their differences between vehicles with and without the options, etc, including looking at the dash bezel, and boy what a nightmare it is the way DC keeps track of parts and options, becauseI found out (even though everything is VIN driven)from all of this researchingthat the picture in the parts list that they show for a part for YOUR VINis not necessarily what it looks likein yourvehicle. There's a huge inconsistency. If I were you, deal with Ted to see if he knows the exact bezel, or just order it at your local dealer based on what the parts person says and refuse it if it is the wrong part.

qbert1963,

I don't know what to say, other than hang in there for Ted and his team to come up with a universal kit that will work with the PCI bus, unless you want to do it yourself. I guess I got lucky with asking Ted to splice it for me. He actually used me as a test bed to see if it works on the CAN bus Rams. So I kind of feel honored! LOL. ButI didn;t know the 05 PW are PCI bus.

I would say hang in there. :-)

Aceman, I didn't realize you had a shop install your harness and parts.

I ran this by the dealer that sold me the truck and they said "no way". Is there anything in particular you did to get them to do it, and if you don't mind, how much did you pay for the install?

Thanks

Jon, it cost me 2 hours at $109/hr. I had a $25 coupon (they sent me in the mail) that I used for it. They warned me it would void any warranty associated with the radio, etc, and I said that's cool, go ahead and do it. They did it. I don't know why they are refusing to do it for you. All they have to do is take it apart, plug it all in, and button it up, then StarScan it. Not much to it. I would have done itg if I knew how all the dash, and headliner all come apart.

I guess I built up a huge rapport with them too while I was researching it. They all know me now. They're probably referring to me as, "Project Ace!" LOL

New project: (in order - comments welcome):
Dual Exhaust (Must be304 Stainless. Also my PW has dual cats,so maybe the dual exhaust system from a Ram SRT10 QC may work unless there's another 304 based dual exhaust) - With Ted's help.
VES -with Ryan's and/or Ted's help.
Maybe changing to thebigger mirrors, but then again, maybe not becausemy current small oneshelp when driving down narrow streets. Too bad Dodge doesn't make a power telescoping mirror.

I talked to him the other day concerning something else, but he did tell me he sent out a prototype harness, like the one he made for me, for mass production. Have you tried calling him?

Aceman, I was thinking of calling Ted in the morning, and was wondering what time do you call to actually talk to him.
