Default Tonneau covers

Hi. I'm new here and have a couple of questions. I am looking to buy a tonneau cover for my 2003 Dodge truck, and live in a small town, so my options are kinda limited. The 2 places that have them carry the LoRider brand, prices are the same. So what I need to know is this a good brand. The price is $775.00 installation included. I've read some posts here and they have talked about A.R.E covers whatever that is. I have looked online and they all seem the same to me.
The second question is I had my front windows tinted darker, about 2 years ago,and now I have streaks going down the tint. I took it back to where I had it done and they are telling me it is caused by dirt getting down in the windows, that I need to take the door panels off and clean the rollers. Because it is not faulty tint it is not covered by the warranty. Could this be possible or are they giving me the run around! Any help that ya'll can give me would really be appreciated..Thanks a bunch

Welcome aboard.

As for the tonneau, it sounds like you've decided to go with a hard cover. Most guys are split between soft and hard, and both have their advantages. Hard is more secure, arguably looks better, but it's not great if you haul bigger stuff. If you haul bigger stuff any more than just occasionally, the soft covers that roll up are the way to go. If you go with soft, I've got a Truxedo LoProfile and am very happy with it. Very good quality. They are easier to ship and you can find them on the internet pretty easily. I got mine at truckxpressions.com. Good service and price.

Hard covers are harder to ship and most come from dealers. A.R.E. is a good cover--my brother in law has one and is happy with it. He doesn't haul much (has a Toyota) and it takes him 15 mins or so with 2 guys when he wants to take it off. Click here and you can check them out and see if there's a dealer nearby. A.R.E. Covers.

You can also do a search on here, enter tonneau covers, and you'll get a bunch of older threads with alot in info in them.

Not sure about the window thing...can't help much on that.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

If you want a tonneau cover.....you had better first ask yourself is this something I may need to take off quite often.....I had a fiberglass bed cover on my 01 Dakota.....and it was a pain to haul anything cuz I had to take it off.... it was an A.R.E. locking cover. It was good quality and pretty sturdy. It kept my truck lookin nice when I wasnt usin the bed for hauling.

You might want to look into a bedcover that folds up.....so you can still utilize your bed and not have any hassle.....a bed cover like the picture below would be a good one...

These type of covers lay flat, are generally a hard style/soft to the touch cover, and can be folded up and out of the way instead of being taken off. They make different types, and this is just an example. They make kinds that retract, and kinds that will fold up against the backwindow.

They arent cheap, but if you want to spend the cash for a good cover, they are well worth it..

I have one of the Pace Edwards roll covers.
I used to have one of the regular soft covers and in the winter time I hated it because it was tough to resnap when cold due to not being able to stretch but I liked being able to remove it if I had to put something in the bed. It also seemed to balloon out while on the highway.
I went with the Pace Edwards cover after that and I really like the flexability I have with it. It takes half a second to roll it open for bed use and closes right back up. You can also lock it giving you security.
Take a look at the site: http://www.pace-edwards.com/

I have a Mopar soft tonneau cover. Its great because I do tend to haul alot of stuff and its easy to roll back and forth. As for in the winter it is a little tougher to snap but Mopar has gone away with the vinyl on the top and has a cloth fabric on the top and vinyl underneath so it looks much nicer. It also makes it a little eaiser to snap in the winter. Hope this helps, as for where you would get it at, obviously I got my at my Dodge dealer and it was about $900 install Canadian so you would be looking at about $750 or so American. Good luck

Hi, I have the Lo-Rider hard cover on my 03 QC Hemi, and it's a quality piece of kit.
It's a great cover, although I have to agree with the pther posts, it's a bit big to take off your bed regularly.
You would soon get sick of taking it off/on, as it really is a heavy piece of kit.
Don't get me wrong, if you only haul big stuff very infrequently, the hard cover is the way to go.
It makes the truck look real good and very tidy.
Complete is the word I'm looking for.
Hope this helps you?

Regards from England.

Al.

I have installed the Mopar soft tonneau cover. It is very easy to install, no drilling required, and it has no snaps. I like the way the cover looks, like a convertible top, and it fits perfectly. About $360 in Florida, install it yourself!

I have a tonneaumasters soft cover and I love it. It was like $250, installed in less than 15 minutes. no snaps, ribs are embedded in the cover and roll up with it, and its a quick lock and auto tensioning. No drillings, sits inside of bed rails so no damage to them, looks great. If I have to roll it up it literally takes 5 seconds to do, and same to roll the cover back out. I think the model was t-66 but I might be wrong.
