Default wiring problem

i have a 2004 slt quad cab. i have looked for that blue and white wire off the factory harness for the amp turn on but there is no blue and white wire, but there is a purple and white one. when i disconnect this wire and hook the factory deck up i get no sound, but when i hook that purple and white one into the amp out on my new deck i get no sound. any ideas? ive been at this since 11 am and its know 5:30pm. Im starting to go insane. im about ready to rewire the whole F*cking truck.

P.S. this is the only negitive i have about the truck this far.

thanks

Keyth

Default RE: wiring problem

i found the wiring diagrams on a website, I think i have figured out the problem. From the looks of it the amp is powered threw the radio, the amp doesnt have a 12v going to it. the only one that provides power to the amp is the 12v output off the stock radio. SO from what ive gathered what we have to do is accually attach this wire that gives the amp power to a 12v power and bingo it will work. The wire that gives the amp power is a DG wire, know what im going to do to be safe is hook it to my Ignition switch wire so when the car is off i know that the amp is off. it looks like we could hook it to a constant 12v sorce, but i rahter not just to be safe. This wire that is the ignition switch is PK/YL so we need to attach the PK/YL to the DG wire and the color that matches the wiring harness you have for the ignition switch. There is also a WT/VT wire that is labeled PCI BUS that goes from the radio to the amp, i have no idea what it is, but in a computer it connects two things together, so my guess would be that it is the remote turn on. the only other wires that go into the amp are speaker wires.

I havent done this yet and will NOT confirm it till i try it. Im going to include where i got the schematic diagrams so you can look and see if i am right or wrong (ive never read these things before) Would be great if someone else looked at it and agreed or disagreed so i dont blow my ram up or break somthing im not suposed to. Plus i still cant figure out what some of the abbreviations are for the wire colors.

You can get the schematic here http://www.hemitruckclub.com/04manua...y_sgmldiag.pdf
The accual page you need to go to is page 606. This is the scematic for the premium audio system the wiring for the basic is on page 607.

Please respond with your findings aswell. I dont think reading a scematic and pluging somthing where its not suposed to go is covered in my warrenty. so for that reason i shall check back here in the morning to verify then try it.
