Flash PCM?????

What does reflashing the PCM do, does it add hp?

This is your engine control module - prior to my current Ram I had a 2K Dakota w/the 4.7. There were rumors of a "death flash" or one that was very conservative. I asked a buddy at a local dealer who said they would usualy only flash if there was a related TSB that it fixed, or if they had a particularly upset customer (complaining about performance) - then they had a flash that was a tad more aggresive.....

As far as the current gen Ram's, I've not heard much about any flashes out there.....

"Flashing" a controller simply means reprogramming it. The only way a dealer is able to flash, is if there has been an updated program issued for the vehicle involved. The new program issued may or may not improve performance depending on what was changed in the software. Once a dealer updates the controller it cannot be reversed. If your wanting something to increase performance you might look into a power programmer.
