Default New gauge idea for offroaders

So I was looking over Summit Racing, and saw a Differential Temp gauge. I'm not too worried about my Diff Temp, unless I was doing an very long burnout. So I got to thinking of another use for this gauge.... What about using it to monitor the T-case when offroad and in 4LO for long periods of time. I doubt this would be hard to do. I am just curious if anyone has thought of doing this, and if anyone HAS done it.

I couldn't imagine Tcase temps getting very hot in a 4wd situation as the revs will be considerably less than say towing 6K at a constant 2500+rpm. Personally, I think it would be a waste of time and effort, however, would have a certain "cool factor" none the less.

The only time I MIGHT consider it is with a vechicle that tows all the time. Other than that I would just see it as putting more money in someone elses pocket.

Keep the diff oil fresh and full and there should be no problem.

Well for the msot part, your right it wouldn't get too hot. Although a number of times on offroad courses at the proving ground, I've the "service 4wd" light come on, due to over temp. Now they have changed the tests where you can only make so passes in 4LO, then you have to move to the next test, and come back later in 4LO. I know there has been times that I've my truck in 4LO for hours at a time. Just thought it had a "Cool-ness factor"

I'm just a little curious on why you've had your truck in 4LO for hours at a time? I guess you were in a neverending "hairy" situation off-road. Or are you just refering to the proving grounds?

I've been up north, and on the West side of the state 2 tracking. I should also clarify. When I say "hours at a time" I mean, that I have had the truck in 4WD for hours. Switching between 4HI and 4LO. But so frequently that it would not allow time for the fluid to cool completely. The other thing that I plan on doing is installing a trans. temp gauge, because at the same time I've worried about the T-case, I've also worried about the trans. (which is probably more tempermental anyway). Thanks for the input guys. Gonna look into it further.
