2004 Brake Lock up
2004, 4.7 liter, 2wd experiencing front brake lookups. No apparent contamination and the system was flushed but it happened again this morning. After cooling the brakes release. Dealership is unable to identify any seals or valves that appear defective. Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.
I'd say if its under warranty have them replace the calipers. Jeep Cherokees in the late 90's used to do this, as well as the late 90's 2500 Ram's. One other thing you have to take note of, is that "brake components" are only suppose to be warranteed til 12,000 miles. So you might have an issue there. It you have under 40,000 miles I'd raise holy hell until they fix it. Especially if the pads are good. My 2005 4x4 has 13,000 miles and the brakes feel great. There shouldn't be any reason for a 2 yr old truck to have failed calipers....... unless its a valve in the master cylinder, or the proportioning valve.
The only thing that makes me think it is not the calipers is that both of them are locking up at the same time. I personally think it is the master cylinder. That is the only explanation that would effect both front calipers at the same time. Thing is... the dealer can't find anything that points to it.
