2002 1500 EXHAUST ISSUE
I have a 2002 Ram 1500 Quad that I replaced the stock exhaust with a flowmaster 40 series cat back dual rear exit. Had a bad sound from it when cold and hold at a constant speed/rpm (i.e 25 mph, 30 mph, 35 mph, etc) the best way to describe would be to take a coke/pepsi bottle hold it up to your lips, in a vertical position, and blow in it. Kinda sounds like a fog horn. However, would go to a very faint sound once the muffler heated up to operating temp. Anyway, became tired of that and changed 40 series out for 50 Series SUV Cat Back dual side outlet. Having same sound with it, anyone have any ideas or had same situation? How do I correct?
Thanks,
Thanks,
I have a 02 w/5.9 it has a single in dual-out Flow master and sounds same cold or warm. i would suggest some one test your cat/converters or take a good look at the bends on your exhaust, what you describe sounds like a restriction which can occur to the cats or over a tight bend. Mine has one cat/converter on each exhaust and then either a cat or resonator followed by the flow master.
Good luck
Good luck
Muffler is 3" in/dual 2.5" out with mandrel bent tubing with no ripples or kinks....I only have one cat followed by flowmaster muffler. Ok What exactly is a resonator? I am just starting to get into upgrading vehicles.
Thanks
Thanks
resonator is the part of the exhaust pipe that cuts down on interior cab resonance (noise). I have a super 40 with the same 3" in dual 2.5" out and I have not experienced anything like that.
