Default Gear Question?

I am looking to upgrade eventually to some 20" rims and tires for my Ram. I have stock 17's right now with 3.55 gears. Will I have to chnge to the 3.92 set up if I go bigger on my tires. I live in Florida where there are really no hills and I really don't tow anything. Any help will be appreciated. [sm=smokin.gif]

No, you dont HAVE to change the gears, you'll just lose a little bit of acceleration, since the tire is going to be a bit bigger, also your spedometer will be off. [about 6KM/h I beleive]

i got/had (blew them out) 3.55s i went from a 17 inch wheel to a 24 inch wheel and the 24 is the same over all size as the 20 inch wheel. and let me tell you the weight dif and size dif will hurt your mpg and acc. i am changing to a 4.10 to make up for mine.

Thanks Guys. I read in a different forum that the 3.55 gears are challenged when larger wheels are put on the truck, thus creating more strain on the tranny. I don't want any issues with a Dodge Tranny, you know the rep they have for that. I am in a Quagmire as to Should I or Should I not get 20" rims.

go for it. it's not gunna hurt a thing.

all you will need to do is have the computer corrected for the larger diameter wheel.
