Default 2003 dodge ram 4.7L mods

Hello to all, I am new to the site. I have been lookin online for performance mods for my truck. I have a 2003 Dodge Ram QC 2x4 with a 4.7L. I have noticed that there are not many performance options for my truck. I am lookin to increase my HP and gas mileage, along with the overall ride and appearance of my truck.

Right now, I am looking at gettin new headers, performance chip, and functional ram-air hood. I would like to get the best bang for the buck for the horsepower/gas mileage increase. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!
Chris

skip the headers, you wont need them yet. the stock manifolds flow pretty well.
Depending on how much money you have to work with
Airram.com has the best induction system for the money, you cant go wrong there
replace the stock muffler and resonator with a performance muffler I personally like the flowmaster super 40
If you still got some flow left get a ported throttlebody from thefastman.com and top it all off with a set of gears.
I would avoid the JET chip. Most people say it is money poorly spent

these mods are a great steppindg stone for future upgrades and it should feel like a different truck by the time you are done.

The cash flow wont be a problem. It all wont happen at once. It will come in due time So, whatever I can get, I will get at some point. I don't know very much about all of this tech stuff, but I did dual exhaust put on my truck. Don't exactly know what they replaced and what not.

So, whatever would be the best upgrades for my truck, let me know!

Thanks for the help!
Chris

To start with the 4.7L, I'd get a Superchips programmer and a fastman TB upgrade in addition to a high flow intake and perhaps replace the muffler. That should net about 25 rwhp at most.

The best upgrade is to either go ahead and S/C the motor or upgrade to a Hemi. If you spend 3K on a S/C and install yourself you'll gain about 100hp. If you lost 3K by trading up to a Hemi Ram, you'll gain about 100hp. That is only $30/hp which is actually pretty good.

Of course all the hp claims are not hard fact, but a projected increase. The only way to truly tell is by running the truck on a dyno.

You can make HEMI power with out adding a supercharger. When I had H/O cams & H/O intake, Superchips, 4.56 gears, ASP underdrive pulley, Electric fan, AIR RAM INDUCTION SYSTEM, Power wire and Gibson headers I was running 9.91 in the 1/8 mile... the Closest Quad Cab HEMI that night was running 10.2x and the other QC HEMI was running 10.3x's... I lined up with one of them and lets just say after I beat him by over 3 truck lengths he was not happy to learn I had a 4.7L .

At that time I had just over 2,000 invested in mods. Many of my mods where purchased from forum members and I waas always on the look out for a good deal. I do plan on adding a SC possibly next year... That should put me well into the 8's.

SPEED SAFE, AIR RAM

Hi to all, I am new to this site. I have been looking for new parts to enhance the performance HP of my 2003 4.7 Dodge Ram 1500. I have added a dual air intake and single flow master 40 series. I know I have a long way to go and haven't even started. So just would like some help on what should I start with first. (Brands) I have been looking at Gibson Headers,Borla exguhast and not sure what cams I should be looking at?

After CAI and cat-back, tuner would be the next logical mod. I also like the HO cams, cheap, nice little bump in performance and work well with simple "canned" tuner like the DSP or SC...
