New guy GM to Dodge
Hey guys my names Kyle and I'm gonna be in the market to buy a new/used truck here pretty soon. I currently drive a '01 gmc sierra slt z71 w 3.73's. However, I am going to switch over to Dodge because my friend just got an '06 QC with the Hemi and I absolutely love it. I have a few questions for you guys thought. On the GMC's/Chev's you can tell the gear codes by looking in the glove box and finding the three character code such as GT4. I plan on lifting my Ram and want fairly solid gears. How do you tell what rear gears you have? Also my GMC had a PCM and you could get a handheld tuner or take the PCM out and send it in to have it re flashed and re programmed. I'm sorry for the stupid newbie questions but I'm completely new to the Dodges. Thanks for all of your reponses and I look forward to joining the Dodge community.

Oh btw I plan on running 35's so any suggestions to gears would be appreciated.

The edition of the ram will tell which gears (like my SLT is 3.92) you have or the price sticker/manual will also let you know. You can connect a programmer up to the ram and re-program away.
mines got the little thing in the glove box that says 3.55 yours should be a 3.55 or a 3.92 i would change the gear out as soon as u get the truck to be honest. i went from a 3.55 to a 4.10 and i have gain better over all drivablity of the truck as well as fuel milage in town. with a large offroad tire i wouldnt be afraid of 4.56 gears. search around i wont be the only person telling u this. welcome to the dodge world hope u have less trouble then i am having
