Throttle Body...

I have an 04' Hemi quad cab 4X4. I have put on a magnaflow muffler, and K & N Air Filter. I have seen that you only utilize these when you add on a throttle body. Is this true? Would a new throttle body produce a different tone out of the exhaust? Please advise.
