Spacing/Taking off exhaust question...
my truck is a major project, i would like to see if i can get it up to 450hp, bearing in mind that it will be a daily driver. If it will cost too much then I will buy something else, actually that will happen sooner or later due to gas prices. I get 11.8mpg and it's killing me.
Yeah gas is a killer for me too. That is why I did, what I call, "**** on" mods to the engine. I was not about to go and tear everything apart. I wish I could, but I need to work out of my truck too. Adding another 100hp shouldn't bee too hard. Just a lot of money and time. If you do it right. You could always just put on a blower and be done with it, but it will be at the cost of the life of your engine.
exhaust is easy it just unbolts and slides off the hanger. I dumped mine before the axle so it was really easy. spray some wd-40 or some other lube on the rubber hangars and the clamp bolts to loosen them the night before and it makes it a LOT easier. CAI, heads/cam, with a custom tune should easily get you in the 450 range easy. Start with the 6.1 cam and a bigger throttle body. The hemi guys are seeing big gains off these.
stykthyn, once i take it off, is it easy to re-install? I want to compare the differance between no exhaust and Flowmaster Super 40 series. I have a feeling that Cams, Super 40's and a CAI will make it fast and sound MEAN!!! I do want to be able to run it with the stock exhaust back on before i get my Super 40's. Let me know.
