Lowering 05 Quad Cam Ram 1500??
Just looking for some suggestions on lowering my 05 Ram with 20" wheels. I would like to lower it maybe 2" in front and get to even out out back...maybe 4" in the rear. My question is what is the best lowering kit around right now. Also, what can be done about the bouncy stiff ride? I have had it a year now and it is finally starting to get to me...with the roads we have down here it is starting to get somewhat aggrevating. Thanks for any suggestions.
...McGaughy's makes a nice 2/4 drop using spindles and a flip kit. any shock change would be better than stock...One that seems to get good raves are the bilsteins....try to stay away from the djm drop kits. hotchkiss makes a nice kit but they can get pricey.... if your on a budget you can get 2" coils instead of spindles...if you really want to save money you can cut one wound off the stock coil for a 2" drop (cut it off from the bottom)...
I'm stock in the front and have 2" lowering shackles in the rear. The shackles were added by Regency during the conversion. It isn't perfectly level, but much closer then stock. I've thought of dropping another 1 or 2" in the rear (4or 5" total) so that it would truly sit level, but I don't want to do it because I'm worried the rear would actually squat when pulling a boat or carrying weight. I've been happy with the 2" lowering schackles in the rear.
..i do tow a boat so I have added air assist bags to my setup. if and when I do flip my leafs or use lowering leafs I will still use the existing bags to help with staying level...
