mileage with the 4.7
when i went from hot springs arkansas to camp shelby mississippi i avreged 18-19 at 65-60 when i got there i still had a 1/4 tank of gas on the power side man i want more i am looking at adding a cold air intake and a bigger throttle body anywho keep up the good work later
Bob, with my quad cab i never had milage that bad even at the beginning. The only thing i can tell you is that you need to be easier on the gas when u accelerate and let it coast instead of going straight from the accelerator to the brakes.
Just made a 500+ mile trip with 4 guys, 2 dogs, 4 coolers, and 6 30 packs. averaged between 70-85 the whole way and got 16 mpg. would have been better i think but we spent alot of time driving through the hill counrty and the engine had to work pretty hard to get up some of those hills.

Thanks Big Red, I am planning on a 750 mile trip 2 weeks from now and I will see what the best mpg it will give at a constant 65 mph. If its still **** poor, I will be very disappointed.

2005 QC 4wd 4.7 driving 65 mph with a drop in air filter, the best I got was 19 on the overhaed. Which is pretty close to calculated! As far as power it is fine for a truck.unless you want to pull anything heavy.
Aha............some peeps using the "calculated" mpg from the computer...................that may explain the wide disparity. Really, the only true number is the amount of gas you pump into your tank vs. the odometer (assuming the odometer is correct).
This is crazy.. i just got back from Vermont for the 2nd time over this last yea and I honestly got on average at 60-65mph 20-22.5 mpg... It showed over400 out of the tank(overhead) whenI cruised at that speed... It is a 2005 QuadCab 4.7Lcompletely stock with 40psi in the tires 20" factory wheels and no mods what so ever, not even a bed cover... I just had myself and my Fiancee' in the truck and everything including clothes and a cooler in the back. I only have 22k MILES ON THE TRUCK! I think i am going to keep it as is and not do any mods. I don't beat on it nor do I intend too... My bumper to bumper is over this October 2008. I just think that if you are speeding over 70mph that is when the truck gets the worst.
5000 miles and the overhead reads 13.3 right now and that is mostly in town. i have gotten between 17-18 on the highway at about 70. truck is 100% stock except for the running boards and a fiberglass cab heigth cap.
2002 QC with the 4.7 and I'm pretty impressed with the little motor in this heavy truck. We've had it 6mos now and I tow a 2 horse trailer as well as load it to the cab with firewood and it comes right on up these mountain roads in WV. Short trips and city MPG are usually around 14-15 and highway is usually around 18-19.
I have an 03 4.7l quad cab my councel sayd i get 10.7mpg i did the math and i actually get around 14.5mpg i have an intake exhaust and a jet super chip in it andi cant complain about the 60 to 100 let me tell you. Afterf a hundred... it just sucks but i still love my truck. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix that engine up more?
