Is the cam position sensor code a real concern? My truck has thrown that code a few times. The first time was at 36,250 miles of course, I was SOL for the warranty. Sometimes it will pop up and I just get it cleared. Will this problem just affect gas millage like the service guy told me or is there a real concern I shouldn't be ignoring?

The cam position sensor is a critical issue. Cam timing can actually put you dead in the water if it goes out. The timing of the cam is critical to the overall efficiency of the engine. If for instance the timing retards too much, and the catalytic converter starts to soot up, it can cause some nasty problems. The first thing to do is check the connection and lead wires to it and make sure they are not loose or frayed or corroded etc. If your truck is still under warranty, make them replace it. If not, you may have to bite the bullit.
