Help, need better MPG, best tune option?
Hey, just found the forum. I have an 05 Ram 3/4 ton with the 5.7L Hemi. The problem I am having is that when I tow my camper I only get 10 MPG. This truck is my daily driver and in the winter it is my plow truck. I am just looking for the best tune to gain some MPG. Also what else have you guys done with your tunes besides gas mileage? What else could I do to gain on daily driving, plowing, and towing? I was considering Hypertech but don't have experience with them, was also considering a mail order tune. Thanks in advance for any help.
Get a cheap Cold Air Intake. I just got through putting mine on, Ill let you know how good it helps. I haven't heard as much good things about hypertech, but I have a superchip flashpaq. It has 3 different settings towing, high performance, and 87 octane (good gas mileage). I had it set to performance and it makes a pretty good difference. Tonight Iv already set it to good gas mileage so Ill let you know how that works out as well later.
Hey, I don't know my ratios, where would I look for the build code, glovebox? Sorry not much help on that. Thanks for the info on the flashpaq. Sounds like what I might want. I like having the option of changing my tune for what I am using the truck for. Again, thanks for all the help guys, keep it coming, Justin.
I have a 2500 HD and I think my ratios are 3.73. I believe it's listed on the side of the inside of the door, I'll have to check later.
Would there be a noticable difference, good or bad for 4.10 gears?

I have serious doubt a cold air intake will help with anything. It will just make things louder.
If you want better mileage, which will never happen without major modifications, try reducing weight. Do you need carpet? How about all that glass. Buckle your seatbelt and remove the doors.
What about an additional super high gear box between your tranny and transfer case. Switch it into super high gear on the highway and get those revs down.
Best advice is to go easy on the gas, a 2500 with a hemi is a pig.
