Default 2006 Ram 2500 sterio help!!!!

Okay I have a 06 2500 with the infinity system, and the 6 dinc changer. I got it all out no problem. Then when it comes to installing the new DVD system it seems that I was given the "wrong wire harness." Once again no problem. I go to the store, and they tell me that that's the only one they make for the 06 ram, so I make a few calls and I here the same thing everywhere. Now I am not dumb I have installed many stereo systems, but does this make sence? Has anyon out there had this problem, and or know where I can get the right one? Or even happen to have a wire diagram, so that I can just bypass the harness? I would love the feedback!! PLease help my car is in pieces, and It's 2 weeks old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't find anything for the '06 either. I have a friend at work that has been searching for a while now... and he still hasn't found a harness adaptor.

I told my friend to see if this chart works, and I haven't heard back yet (I would think it may at least work for color reference even if your connectors are different):

I know your truck is brand new, and I respect that, but if and only if you get completly stuck (since your truck is already taken apart), and you can't find any help... you can try the following:

If you have a volt meter, you can figure it out. You will at least be able to find the ground, the constant 12V, the switched 12v (IGN), the e-brake ground (due to the DVD option) and so on.

Once you get the speaker wires isolated from the rest, you can use a AA battery to determine which wires are for which speaker and confirm the polarity. When you tap the AA battery terminals to the two speaker wires (one + and the other -), it will make the corresponding speaker pulse. You will be able to see and hear the speaker pulse. If the speaker pulses outward (away from the magnet) when the battery is touched, then look at how the battery is connected to the wires because the battery's polarity is correct (+ = + and - = -). If the speaker pulls in, then the battery is backwards to the speaker's true polarity. This trick can save you from having to completly removing panels and speakers to see what wire colors and polarity is connected to the back of the speaker. All you have to do is be able to see any portion of the face of the speaker.

If you really need to, with the stock radio removed, you can cut the speaker wires one at a time and note which speakers shut off with which cut wires for a sense of direction. You can also look at the back side of each speaker to determine what wire colors are connected to which speakers if needed.

Here are the standard colors and functions of aftermarket radio harnesses, you can use it to reference the basic functions you'll be looking for as you navigate with your meter:

Wire Color Function / Connection
Yellow = 12 Volt Battery / Constant (12V+)
Red = 12 Volt Ignition / Switched (12V+)
Blue = Power Antenna
Blue/White = Remote Turn on (12V+)
Orange = Illumination / Dimmer
Black = Chassis Ground (12V-)
White = Left Front Positive (LF+)
White/Black = Left Front Negative (LF-)
Gray = Right Front Positive (RF+)
Gray/Black = Right Front Negative (RF-)
Green = Left Rear Positive (LR+)
Green/Black = Left Rear Negative (LR-)
Violet = Right Rear Positive (RR+)
Violet/Black = Right Rear Negative (RR-)

Good luck.

If you find a harness or something better to work with, let me know so I can tell my friend.

thanks Accurate. I can't seem to find the right harness anywhre either. I have already tried the battery trick. That was my first thing to try when I had no harness. The problem with that is that I can't get the speakers to "pop" at all since I am not able to get the factory amp to turn on. I have even tried hard wiring the deck to the 12 volt constant and grounding it out then using the remote turn on lead on every wire then the battert for the speakers, and that didn't even work. I believe that it is due to the computer running through the radio. That's the only thing I have got from a few threads other places. it looks like I am just going to have to attempt to put it all back together now. that's going to be a hell of a lot of fun in itself. Just to give anyone out there a heasd up. I did figure out how to do it. I ahve a diagram of the wire colors. The only problem is that the amp is turned on through a connection other than the mormal remote turn on wire, so you have to bypass the amp. It's not too hard to do. If anyone out there wants info let me know.

2 questions
1. Jasn1981 what are you going to do with your old radio?
2. Does anybody know if it will work in place of the general cd player in 06? I have just the base cd player now.

Well, I am not sure what the heck I am going to do with the stock radio, probably keep it for a just in case thing.

2: I don't believe that it will work with the stock system since it does all it's outputs to the amp directly, and it uses the strange "bus" connection to go to the amp for the 7 speaker system.
