Anitofreeze for 2004 Hemi Quad Cab
I noticed when changing oil the other day that my Anitifreeze reservoir was low. I took a look at the owners manual and saw that the newer Dodge vehices take a special kind of Antifreeze wit HOAT. Was wondering if anyone had purchased antifreeze for the Dodge and what kind was used.
Thanks

I thought any red colored antifreeze was good for the truck. I guess I'll look into it. I'd recomend buying it from the dealer, if you were really concerned with the ingredients in the antifreeze. I have not changed my antifreeze on my 2004 HEMI. Maybe your engine was really cold when you checked the coolant reservior, meaning there would be less in there and more in the engine?
EDIT: Actually you said you noticed it when you were changing your oil, so your engine should have been warm.... I'm going to go check my truck's antifreeze level.

First I would check to see why it is low. There have been a few reported problems with the overflow tanks leaking. Do you see any crusted up evaporated antifreeze? How's the oil?
If it is just a little, I say just put some distilled water into it. Preferrably RO type as there will be no minerals or what not to start corroding the system. The amount of water would probably be insignificant and will not throw off your ratio of water/antifreeze.

What sort of reported problems? I have gotten crusty dried anitfreeze on top of the resevoir, but I never saw any indications of leaks from the sides or bottom (from what I could see).
Um do not put JUST ANY red antifreeze. Red antifreeze is USUALLY dexcool... A GM coolant, when mixed it gels up the whole cooling system. When in doubt use the Prestone ALL MAKES ALL MODELS coolant. But yes use antifreeze from the dealership. There is not an aftermarket company that makes meets this dodge requirement.

Small splits at the seams. Leaks it all over the place and doesn't hold pressure. I think it was only a small run and there is a TSB for it.
You can always ask about it when at the dealership next.
