Adding Trailer Brake System to '06
.
I'm wanting to add on a trailer brake system to my '06 CTD to help in hauling the Jeeps. I asked my local parts counter what I needed. He says I need their $90 controller and it comes with a wiring loom that connects in near the brake pedal. I then should be good to go. Nothing to have to wire under the truck or anything.
Just wanted to see if anyone else has done this yet to an '06. I need to do this before next week.

You did not say if the truck came with the towing option, but if it did, then he is correct in that all you need is the controller and harness that plugs in under the dash.
A word of advice from someone who has had a few controllers and tows a lot; do not buy just ANY controller, trust me, they are not all created equal. If you want one that will work smoothly and you will not have to constantly keep adjusted, then find yourself a Prodigy made by Tekonsha. The Prodigy should cost around $115.00 and the harness for the Dodge should be around $11.00 and can be found at several online sites and sometimes cheaper on E-bay.
You won't be sorry if you buy a good controller and some of the name brands on the market are duds.

I second the Tekonsha. Excellent product with outstanding user friendly features. While I don't have one in my truck. My friend has one in his Silverado and just swapped out his brake controller for the Tekonsha and it is outstanding.
