I have a 2004 Ram with the 5.7L Hemi and I recently put a K&N air intake (tube, filter etc). Since I put it on I have heard what sounds like an exhaust leak but only between 2000-4000 RPM and when you are driving. It doesnt make the sound when you rev it up in park, but only when you are driving. I took it to the dealership and they changed the exhaust manifold (thought it was cracked) but it didnt fix it. I am curious if anyone else has had this problem before I put the stock intake back on to test if it is the intake or exhaust. Anyone have an idea if this is a typical K&N thing or if I should put the stock intake back on to test it???

yeah, try installing the stock air box and testing it. if it doesnt do it then that means it's the intake.

 

That's the EGR valve ticking. Common on the '04+ trucks.

I have a cold air intake on my 03. It dosent sound bad or like an exhaust leak. I would also recommend installing that huge box back on to narrow it down.
