OK I NEED YOUR GUYS HELP. I JUST CAME BACK FROM THE TRACK IN IRWINDALE CALIFORNIA ( 1/8 MILE TRACK). I RACED A EXT. CAB SILVERADO AND THOUGHT I WON, BUT MY TIME SLIP SAYS OTHERWISE. I WAS I FRONT OF THIS GUY THE WHOLE WAY EVEN THROUGH THE FINISH LINE. I DID HAVE THE JUMP ON HIM (REACTION TIME .601 VS. .838) AND I KNOW R/T DOES NOT EFFECT YOUR 1/8 MILE TIME, BUT HE BEAT ME (9.267 @77.14MPH VS. 9.819 @7.51MPH). THE MATH JUST DOES NOT MATCH UP TO ME. AM I MISSING SOMETHING. I HAD MORE THAN HALF MY TRUCK ON THE GUY,BUT YET MY TIME IS SLOWER THAN HIS. WHAT GIVES?? WE RAN AGAIN WITH THE SAME RESULTS ME CROSSING THE LINE FIRST BUT YET WITH A SLOWER TIME AND SLOWER SPEED. I'M NOT GETTING IT. I HAD A COUPLE BUDDIES AT THE LINE TO MAKE SURE TO SEE WHO CROSSED FIRST. OH WELL. GOOD RUN NONE THE LESS. ANYONES INFO WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANX.. OH YEAH I DID NOT KNOW THAT THEY MADE A 6.0 SILVERADO OTHER THAN THE SS, BUT THIS GUY HAD A 6.0 SILVERADO NON SS. HE SAID THE ONLY DIFFERENCE WAS THE SUSPENCION AND THE LUXURYS THAT THE SS HAS. EVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING??

Yeah, you can get the 6.0L in a non SS Silverado. The SS model is just mostly looks and some minor stuff. The 6.0L engine is an option though.

While I may be wrong on this, the thing you may be overlooking is the time you leave the line.... You left first....so unless he's super super fast, he wont beat you across the line. That doesnt mean that you were faster then him.

It's like you and me running....you leave first....but I run faster then you so I close the distance faster...even tho you may cross the line first....i actually ran the distance faster then you did.

 

If you watch NHRA alot of drivers lost with a faster time. It is called a hole shot win the one with the slower time leaves the line first and the other driver has to play catch-up but if you cross the line first and did not red light you win.

 

LOL... yeup I have a real good freind who has a Silverado VHO (Vortech High Output) Its a 2 whell drive 6.0L and he spend 7,500 bucks on a supercharger (9 psi), custome program (LapTop), Exhaust (Headers back) and a few ins and outs... he has run a best of 8.24 in the 1/8 mile with SEVER traction issues. That thing is a MONSTER. The day he got it we debadged it. The only way you can tell thats its a FACTORY FREAK is from the STOCK 20" rims that only come on the VHO trucks.

He just purchased AFR heads and a new cam... he should be putting over 550RWHP to the ground.


I think his truck is UGLY as heck but man that thing is FAST.

Your times are ESTAMETED. The clock starts when you trip the first beam, then once you cross the traps the computer does the math and puts up your time and speed. It is NOT a radar of any sort... ALL trap times and speeds are ESTAMATED. If your vehicle travles 660 feet in 9 seconds it does the math to figure out your TOP speed.

Because hi reaction was slower... he left later... this means he made ground on you even though you where ahead of him. If you where racing "HEADS UP" you would have won. But in fact you did win... just not with a faster time.

EXAMPLE: You line up next to a TOP FUEL Dragster.

The light goes GREEN and he gives you a 9 second head start... You will beat him to the 1/8 mile but he will still cross the traps at 4.82@180MPH ... to your "9.819 @7.51MPH"... you get the win but he would whoop your *** if he left the line at the same time.
