rim corrosion on 05 Dodge Ram Daytona
hey folks...my first post =)
i got a 05 Dodge Ram Daytona edition........just iver 34,000 km on it now.....will turn 1 year old on April 20, 2006
i use the truck mostly on the highway running back and forth from coast of norther british columbia to fort mcmurray alberta.......i bought the truck in Edmonton, Alberta
over the past month and half ive noticed really bad rim corrosion on all 4.....the rear ones are much worse off.........the corrosion seems to have come up real quick in about a months time.....i know this cause i had pics taken of the truck a few weeks before i noticed the corrosion........the corrosion is on the aluminum lip that sorta sticks out on the 20" Chromes
i assumed the rims would be covered under the trucks warrenty....3 years or 60,000..........i infact actually purchased an extra two years or 40,000km on top of that
however i was told by the dearlership in Terrace, British Columbia that rims are only coverd to 20,000km
what options do i have?
btw.....ive also noticed rust on the base of the attenna......any options here as well?
heres a pic of my baby before the evil corrosion took over.....pic is from somtime in Januray while in Edmonton

The rims should be covered under the 3/36, with that said I am not sure how many KM are in a mile, I am guessing 34KM is way over 36 miles though. This is not the first set of rim I seen do this.

thats what i thought too that they should be covered..........i looked underneath the truck and all the black paint is still pretty 95% rust free (truck never came with a undercoat)
took the truck into Chrysler here...the service manager was so rude that i actually laughed to break the tension.....he finally agreed that he would call Chyrsler as see if they want to replace the rims......im not expecting much to come out of this however
when i pass through Edmonton again at the end of this month.....i will make sure to stop by Londenderry Chrysler (where i bought the truck) and see if they can be a bit more helpful
LOL, sorry brain fart.... Of course you would get more than 36KM as there is more than 1KM in a mile.
They should replace! It is a bumper to bumper warranty for the first 3/36 or in your case 3/60KM. Mine has a couple blems on them, but I am worried about taking them back. Mine originally came with the polished rims. I wanted a higher shine, so I found a guy in southern OH that worked for Dodge and had a set with only 2K on them. Bought them and he said he was going to change the option package on my truck at the dealer so if I had issues they would be covered, but not sure if he did that.....
