My .02 on the exhaust questions
I check this forum every couple of days or so ( '04 QC 4X4 SLT Hemi Off Road Package ) and I realize that most of the questions are geared toward exhaust. Well, I just want to give everyone looking to change their exhaust some info on what I did.
A buddy of mine (QC Hemi Dually) has gone from stock, to Flowmaster 50 series dual, then to 40 series dual, never really getting the sound he wanted. Everyone of us is looking for a distinct sound we think our trucks should sound like. Well he found it, and yes, I copied him. There is a company ( small? ) called Jones Exhaust. I did find them on the internet if you look. We both got the "Full Bore" (or is it Boar?) exhaust. His was just replacing the 40 series muffler, using the dual setup already there. Me, I am kind of cheap, and didnt want to spend the $, so I stuck with single. A local muff shop that sells them ordered me a SI/SO and installed the muffler, minus the resonator, and added some straight pipe (all welded) so that it exits from the stock location. As far as price, it was gonna be $60 cash for the muffler, ended up having them install for $40. $100 out the door. (I did add a stainless tip for another $40)
As far as sound, like I said, everyone is looking for something different. It is somewhat "stock sounding" at idle, but as soon as you gas it, it definitely comes to life. Sounds great from 1st thru 4th, and when you are on the highway in 5th, it sounds very close to stock. Thought I would share for those who have posted that they wanted their truck to be louder without being too loud. If you are on the frugal side like me, it may be what you are looking for.
PS. I wanted something loud when you want it, but not so loud that I wake my 3 yr old at 6AM leaving for work. ( I actually pull the Harley far away from the house before starting it if I ride to work)
Oh yeah, DONT ask me to upload a video/audio , cause I dont have a digital videocamera. Sorry
Keep the rubber side up.
