I have an '06 with the OEM 6-Disk in-dash CD/MP3 Head Unit.
I have found with this unit (and others in the past) that several factors effect playback of MP3s:
First, if you are burning the disk with Windows Media Player (Microsoft Product) it may be burning the CD with .WMA (Windows Media Audio) files vise .mp3 format. Some units support mp3 as well as WMA, some don't. I'm not sure about ours off the top of my head. I'm partial to a program called NERO for all my media burning needs.
Second, if you're sure that the disk contains true MP3's and not WMA files or any other type of file format, some MP3 players can only playback certain ranges of bitrates. I'm not trying to sound like an a$$, but in case you're not sure, the bitrate of the file is the amount of data per unit time that the file is encoded with. Higher bitrates mean larger file sizes, but they also mean higher quality. To check the bitrate and other file attributes, right click on the file you are investigating, click properties, click on the sumary tab, and info will be there. Common bitrates are in the 128 or 256 kbps (kilo-bytes per second) neighborhood. Any MP3 player should playback MP3 files with those bitrates.
If the above doesn't help then I'm not sure whats going on. I always have my 6-disk fully loaded with MP3 disks with no problems, but I convert all the various file types to MP3 prior to burning.
Hope this is helpful

What radio do you have? The six disc that says 6 disc cd/mp3/WMA on the face plate plays MP3s and windows mida files. I believe it states that in the owners manual.
