and cyclone, to answer your question, when dodge first dynoed the hemi that debuted in the 03 model, they "cheated" they removed the power steering pump, and other things like AC compressor from the engine because thats the only way they could make the "1hp per cubic inch" they were advertising. ford and gm complained about this and i believe it is now required to be dynoed with the accesories that the engine will have on it when its in the vehicle. thats why the newer hemis are all rated for a little lower. in fact the durango has been rated for 330 ever since the hemi was made available for it.
its not like the old days when mopars were notorious for being under-rated for insurance purposes. ive heard that alot of people think that the 426 street hemi was actually under rated by as much as 75 horses. it was rated at 425, and there are more than a few people who believe it might be closer to 500, but the quality of dynos back then wasnt the same as it is now, so unless you get an original low mileage, non rebuilt engine on a modern dyno, there isnt really a way of telling.
EDIT: CUMMINZ, i just checked out your little web page thingy, and i want to say, you have one sweet truck. i love the color.

i dont know that it is still rated at 345. if it is maybe they are still allowed to use the original numbers they got on vehicles that were dynoed before the rules were revised, but the vehicles that didnt get the hemi til a few years later (the durango got it in 05 i believe) and the chassis cab ram which just came out, have to use the revised, more accurate numbers.
