I own a 2003 Dodge Ram Hemi Quad cab. It currently has the 4 speaker stock stereo system installed. I do have the small speaker grills located on my dash but there are no speakers installed in them. I plan on replacing the stock stereo with a pioneer upgrade and also replacing all four speakers in the doors. I read other post that said you had to remove the amp behind the glove box. Do I have an amp there or is this for the infinity system ? I was hoping that all I will have to do is replace the stock radio with a new one and install the speakers and that it. Is this correct ?

you don't have the amp, all you need to do is take out the head unit and slide in your new one.

 

I have the same set-up except I have a regular cab. I made plates for the front two speakers so they would fit 6.5 components and I have the tweeter's up under the dash and it sounds great. The sound seems to bounce of the glass and really give it a full sound in the cab. I would highly recommend spending a little more to get components and putting the tweeter in the top of the dash.
