Hemi Multi-Displacment Engine
I went to a local dodge dealership this morning and was looking at an 06 Hemi Ram Sport and noticed that it had the multidisplacement engine. How good are these engines? Anyone having issuses with them? Any better gas mileage than the non multidisplacement engine?
I have heard they get better gas milage. but im not sure of them as might have a lot of bugs in them as they are a new thing, like the GM Cady had some 8cly that swithched off cylders as you drove to get better mpg but was a total piece of jusk and was not made for long as it was in allways breaking down.
Mine has 12000 miles on it already. Runs great. On the highway depending on the wind and speed I get 17 to 19 miles to the gallon. Around town it get 14 to 15. I pulled y 20 foot bayboat on a 600 mile trip and got 11 miles to the gallon. The boat is very heavy.
I have a 2006 QC Laramie with the MDS HEMI and love it. Just finished my first road trip and averaged at times 22 mph on the highway. Around town it's more like 15 to 18 depending on conditions.

GM used a Rube-Golberg system on their notorious 8-6-4-0 motors. The MOPAR/Daimler system is very simple and elegant and well thought out. Works like a charm and is delivering expected results in my new '06 HDRQC.
