no buS??
My 2003 Ram 1500 displays no buS in the odometer and no gages work. All the warning lights are on...engine abs etc. I went under the hood and found a connector/plug its black with a red slide on it has two wires coming off the harness that goes through the firewall one is blue with a black stripe the other is pink. I moved the slide back and forth started the truck and everything worked again....Im like cool must have been loose....well they went out again and messing with this plug don't bring them back now. What is this and what does it have to do with my gages? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Do you still have the truck under a warranty of some sort? Same type thing happened to my old jeep cherokee and after a couple visits to the dealer they caved an put in a new computer. I had no loss of power or anything, just the gauges went dead.
Had it in the shop yesterday. I bought it last week all was working. It should be under warranty only 24K miles but it had been hit in the rear and repaired so Dodge says my warranty is no more. The fact that I moved these wires and it all came up makes me think a loose connection some place and not the computer. Runs fine but no gages, all my warining lights are on, ac blows hot and wipers and turn signals dont work. Body guy probably didnt hook everything up right and I don't want to spend 100/hr for somebody to chase wires.
You cluster is losing power. Once the fuse box senses the loss of comm with the cluster, it turns on the headlamps (safety issue). If you bought it a week ago, there is some warranty for that, unless you did not buy it from a dealer. You still should take it back to the person selling it, and complain that it is not functioning properly. They should refund the difference that it takes to fix it.
Thanks all I did contact the individual I bought the truck from and he was more than willing to help. However I went through connections and cleaned them and made sure everything was plugged in. The culprit as far as I can tell turned out to be a loose connection to the ABS module. Once I unplugged it cleaned it and plugged it back in works like a champ. I should have went there first as my ABS light was coming on intermidently and my spedometer was jumping while idleing. I'm surely no expert but I guess all these modules have to communicate with each other and a break in a circuit can show up someplace else. Got gauges, no abs light coming on and no jumpy spedo....just a side note while it was in the shop I guess the mechanic pulled the fuse for the cluster lights and didn't replace it so I had no lights and no fuse....Who are these guys anyway?
