5th Gear @ 35-40 M.P.H.?? '06 Ram Hemi
It seems like at about 35-40 I'm already in 5th gear. When I try to accelerate out of 40 mph, I really have to put my foot down just to get it going because you can tell it's in a higher gear than it should be. Is there a cheap aftermarket fix for this?? I've been considering the throttle body spacer but don't wanna waste my money.
hmm i dont know what gear my truck is in when its goin about 35-40 like you said but im pretty sure its not 5th and i only have the 4.7 and am still accelerating strong without even pushing my foot into it hard at 40 mph...if its a new truck then take it to the dealer and get it fixed. its under warranty and wont cost you anything and its better to be safe than sorry.
I have an '03 4x4 hemi and it does everything in it's power to be in the highest gear possible as quick as possible. It drives me nuts sometimes going through my local canyons cuz I have to put my foot down sometimes to get out of the corners. I turn the overdrive off most of the time to save a downshift.
My 2005 1500 4x4 Hemi kicks into 5th between 45 and 50. Doesn't seem to bother me at this speed. If I want to pass somone or whatever, I also need to stomp on it pretty hard to downshift.
My 2002 4.7L QC will catch overdrive at 35 under light exceloration. But under WOT it will not grab Overdrive untill I reach 110MPH.
