Hypertech VS. Superchips

Hypertech VS. Superchips
I see that 90% of the forum members use the Superchips tuners... Yesterday I was given the opportunity to use a Hypertech Power Programmer III for free... I tuned my truck for 91 Octane, (but I'm still running 87) and I set the rev limiter +500rpms, and increased the top speed limiter to 128MPH... Now, I noticed that the truck runs much better, the exhaust flows better, and it gets up to speed easier... But when I floor the gas pedal, I'm really not blown away. There's definately a difference, but it's not as drastic as some others have made it out to be...
Would it be better with Superchips? Exponentially? Or is there something I'm missing. I do have the 20" tires... Should I run the higher octane gas to notice the most gains?

RE: Hypertech VS. Superchips
I programmed my uncle's '03 HEMI with the Hypertech he bought and neither he nor I was impressed with the results. I found a deal on a Brute Force CAI and Superchips combo package so I bought it and prgrammed it into my '03 HEMI. Now that was a difference! I initially installed the program then a few days later installed the CAI. You could feel the power after both mods. I would definately go with Superchips over Hypertech. You have more flexibility with the Superchips also. If you use the towing or performance program, DO NOT USE ANYTHING LESS THAN 91 OCTANE! You will get pinging and it can hurt your engine.

More than likely our trucks have knock sensors in them, when you run 87 octane for a chip programed for 91 octane your not going to feel much of a difference because your engine computer is retarding the timing to make up for the poor octane fuel. Try running just 91 or better and report back..

RE: Hypertech VS. Superchips
I have actually been more pleased with the "87 Octane" program running 89 octane fuel than the "performance" program running 91 octane. I was noticing some knock at WOT when running 87 octane with the "87 Octane" program, so I bumped up to 89 and so far over the past couple of tanks....no knock. I'm guess the timing is advanced too much for 87 octane fuel even though it's supposed to be customized for it.
