Default mopar brake pads

whats the difference between the raybestos ceramic pads and the mopar one you get at the dealer, because i have put 3 different pads on my truck and i still have a front squeal that i cant fix no matter what i do i even put drilled and slotted rotors on all corners and still a squeal so i thought after all this maybe trying tjhe stock ones at the dealer if there softer or something.

The pads that come on your vehicle from the factory, and the ones you can pickup from the dealer are some what softer to prevent braking noise. This leads to excessive dusting of the front wheels as the pads wear. Car manufacturers struggle with trying to prevent the squealing noise from metallic brake pads, and the brake dusting of the wheels from the softer non and semi metallic pads. If you replaced both the pads and the rotors, and you still have a noise, then look for a bent dust shield. The dust shield is between the hub and knuckle, and if bent could rub against the rotor causing a squealing sound.

Get some EBC Greenstuff performance 6000 pads.
I have them fitted and to date, have not had any dust or squeel from my Ram.
They have over 500 miles on them at the moment and I couldn't be happier.
They are advertised to not produce the dust on your rims and are specifically designed, for heavy street use nad truck/SUV's.
EBC produce several different kinds and types of pads from general to race, so take your pick.
They use a blend of materials including ceramic.
Do a google search or something to find your local stockist.
I think, as I have done, find you'll love them.
Hope this helps you?

I've used the EBC Greenstuff pads on my son's car. They did eliminate the squeal. But, be prepared to replace them a lot sooner than you would like--within 2 years 36k mi for my son. Also, they create significantly more wear on the rotors then any other pad I've ever used. They do stop on a dime, though.

To be honest with you Roger, I would have thought that 2 years is about right for a set of pads.
My son gets about the same as yours, but there again, it's all about a persons driving style.
If your late on braking and are therefore harder on the brakes, what would one expect?
I used to use my gears a lot for slowing down, on a stick shift. I then underwent blue light emergency driving training. In that training, they tell you to use the brakes a lot later and harder. It's altered my own personal style of driving a heck of a lot, and I now myself go through pads quicker.

Your make a good point.

I just replaced pads on my Toyota Highlinder after 50k miles and they still have 1/3 their depth--had badly warped rotors and decided to replace the OEM pads with ceramics. My wife gets around 45-55k miles on her Caravan using semi-metalics on the front--the rear drums look like they'll go 100k mi. So I was thinking they didn't hold up as well as my OEM pads.

Now, me an my wife drive like old folks. For my son, every stop is a screeching panic stop. So 36k mi might be good for him. But, the rotor wear was very noticeable and surprising. These were brand new rotors (PowerSlots) and they looked worse than any set I've seen with over 75k mi on them.

However, those EBC's stop like you're glued to the road. Nothing else comes close. But, they do generate a lot of dust--a lot of dust.

A Thin bead of black Permatex between the pads and calipers works wonders folks....
And forget those dusty-*** OEM pads.... Raybestos cerarmics are the way to go.
At least then your rims will turn black instead of a pinkish-red... heheheh...

I think the Dodge OEM pads are low-dust compaired to my German sportscar. I have to wash the wheel every time I drive the Roadster. So far I am pretty happy with the Dodge OEM brakes. They are huge on my truck.
