One cat vs. two
Hi.
I have an 04 ram hemi qc 4wd, and although it appears all stock, and sounds it, has two cats, leading into a single pipe, with a muffler and resonator at the end.
Here is my question. I saw a coworkers 2005, 2500 series, and noticed it sounded more "rumbly". I looked underneath, and lo and behold, stock, it only has one cat, one muffler, no resonator.
Why is this? Did this model year come this way?
Thanks
That's really weird. The only way I've ever seen a stock 3rd gen. ram is with the headers pipes leading to a Y-pipe, then the cat, then the muffler. But maybe someone knows something I don't. If you are thinking about and aftermarket exhaust, I'd just put one cat back on. I don't really see the need for 2.
my dad has an 03 4.7 and his goes from the exhaust manifolds down into one cat. i have and 04 4.7 and mine goes from the exhaust manifolds down into 2 cats. my uncle has either an 04 Hemi and his goes from the exhaust manifolds into 2 cats as well.
