Default 06 TRANNY NOISE MYSTERY SOLVED!!

AFTER3 WEEKS OF READING AND ASKING MACANICS AND OTHERS,I NOTICED MY TRANS. WAS MAKING A CLUNK NOISE WHEN SHIFTING FROM REVERSE TO PARK.OTHERS TOLD ME THEY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.THE REASON FOR THE NOISE IS THAT DODGE IN ORDER TO SAVE MPG AND REDUCE WEIGHT THEY WENT TO A BIG *** ALLOY DRIVE SHAFT AND LEFT SLACK IN THE BARRINGS IN THE TRANNY AND REAR END(TO EASE FRICTION ON SHAFT AND REAR END)SO BEING THE DRIVE SHAFT IS SO BIG AND HOLLOW IT MAKES THE SOUND LOUDER THAN IT IS.IT WON'T SCREW NOTHING UP IN THE LONG RUN. FOR THOSE WHO WERE CURIOUS.

Thanks for the tech info. I like to know why things do what they do.

I've got the aluminum drive shaft also, but I have no extra noise. I'd also rather have the aluminum drive shaft since it weights less and takes less HP to turn as opposed to a heavier steel drive shaft.

Just for the record, the TITAN was the first do this. Seems like the Mexican, I mean American, made trucks are taking after the Amercian, I mean, Jap trucks.
