Howdy guys, great forum you all have here, Just bought a new 06 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 TRX4 with the 5.7L Hemi. So I figured I would register with the comminity.

Anyways, just a simple question, since the new 06 Hemi has the MDS, If I were to get a Flowmaster 50 series HD muffler would I need to do any thing else? Or can I just have the muffler put on and call it good?

Thanks for any info you guys, I am just not sure if this MDS needs to be takin into consideration when doing mufflers, cai and so on.

Haha no doubt, I have heard that the MDS may not work with some mods that are avail for 03-05 HEMI'S. I doubt that a muffler would need to be special made for MDS, but wanted to ask just the same. From what I have heard, and this may be wrong, superchargers, cams and so on can not be used.

Anyways, if anyone has advise on MDS HEMI'S do share please.

Actually, I called Flowmaster.

"Let me give you the part number for the muffler designed for the Hemi" said the nice man on the other end of the phone.

Quoted from the web page

50 Series H.D. 3.00" O/C
Model Number 9530560
Heavy Duty Designed for
Late Model Hemi Trucks etc etc

Muffler would not affect MDS and I see no reason why a supercharger and so on can not be added. MDS only works under light load/low power/steady speed conditons, and if push came to shove MDS can be disabled with a toggle switch on one wire as detailed elsewhere in these forums. Cams I agree on, since MDS is part of the valve train.
