difficulty debadging
well i have done it and it looks great i will put some pics up but it wasn't a difficult thing to me just a time consuming thing to do, because i know when i rush i will mess something up so i know just to take my time and do it right. the way i did it was with a hairdryer some fishing wire some turtlewax bug and tar remover and a sticker remover for the auto store
the way i did was heat the badge up for like a minute then take the fishing wire behind the badge and do the sawing motion if it gets tough just re heat it again. then you have to deal with the adhesive i used the hair dryer to heat it up again and roll with your thumbs and fingers that will take sometime. your usually left with some left over residue and some shadowing. to remove the adhesive thats their use the sticker remover and use a cloth to rub it off then after the adhesive is gone usually and dark ring is left around where the badge was this is where you use the bug and tar remover and rub it in circles to remove the slight shadowing and then when all done give the truck a good wax and your ready to go!!

yea I did it the wrong way but it worked. I used my knife to pull back the emblems which was not too hard. Getting all the thick adhesive off was the biggest pain in the but. After trying many different methods i resorted to just letting the adhesive remover sit for like 10 min then use a rubber glove and rub the adhesive off. After that i brought it to my uncles auto body shop and he compounded and polished it and it came out great.

I don't understand the point of this so-called de-badging. Personally I like the emblems that come stock with the vehicle.
To each their own...

I was thinking that too.
Looking at the above tailgate made me think of a vehicle that was wrecked and repainted without replacing all the parts.
thanks chefred112 for the write up comment it took some time for it to sound right! but i just like the look a lot better and with the thing with i looking like it was hit but when someone would look at the truck they would see that huh all the badges are gone why? they didn't replace all the doors and stuff they must of debadged but its just my personal preference i like how it looks without them. i do understand what you were saying dodgedlr completely and great point also, people should look out for little stuff like that cause it can mean its been hit or whatever

I know im a little late here but ill post it anyways... My dad owns a collision shop and I took my truck there to have one of his bodymen debadge my truck and since they do it alot for dented panels that need painting and the best way they have come up with is a plastic scraper/plastic putty knife and DO NOT heat anything up or do it with the truck in the sun or you will put dents in your doors and or tailgate. After you have the plastic scraper put some masking tap straight across lets say the door first, straight across the ram 1500 about 2 milimeters above the emblem to protect the paint when using the scraper to get the badges off. Put the scraper on an angle downward towards the letters and keep working the scraper behind the badges until you can peel them off, dont worry about being too rough as long as your not making any dents. After you get the letters off youll have some sticky adhesive left on the panel. Now youll need a mineral sprits of some sort or a cleaner wax like meguiars, put your cleaner on the panel and glue and use your scraper to gently remove the glue, than wax or run out the area where the badges where and your all set. Ill have pictures of my truck without badges after I clean it later on this week.
